AEE + GYA 2018 Conference: The Power of Story

This week most of our Center for Interim Programs team (President Holly Bull, and Vice Presidents Jane Sarouhan and Jason Sarouhan) head to Florida for a national joint conference between AEE (Association for Experiential Education) and GYA (Gap Year Association). In our highly specialized field, this is an unparalleled and exciting week of workshops, networking and professional development all designed to maintain the highest of standards in experiential and gap year programming!

Jane and Jason Sarouhan will once again put on their facilitation hats as they co-present a 3 hour workshop on new gap year programming:

"On an ever stressful treadmill towards college admissions, more and more high school graduates are choosing to take a gap year in order to decompress, sharpen their focus and explore independence as rising adults. This 3-hour workshop, designed for both programs wanting to enter the gap year field as well as current gap year program providers who want to expand their programming, will be divided into 2 distinct parts. The first will explore: the current gap year landscape, student interests, and niches still awaiting programming. The second half will be a working session in which participants reflect on these new insights about the gap year market in relation to their own organization's strengths, resources and mission, and draft a gap year program model to share with their company's leadership team for further exploration."

Fellow experiential educators and gap year programs, we hope to see you at the conference, and at our workshop on Friday morning: https://www.aeegya2018.org/!
