Sample Gap Year Programs

The following 120 sample programs, separated into ten general categories, are just a fraction of the over 5,000 options that Interim has to offer. These sample programs should help you begin to explore creative combinations of choices for your own Interim time "on." Interim Programs may provide room and board (housing and food) in exchange for labor, charge a small fee for living expenses, or a larger fee or tuition (usually for group programs with leaders and/or teachers.) Aside from a few programs that offer stipends, we do not provide paying job options.

A possible Interim year scenario below illustrates how a student can weave together different program experiences in a variety of areas of interest before heading to college or while taking a year during college:

June-Aug:	work at home to save money for the year
Sept-Dec:	cultural study program in Nepal, Ghana, or Central America (fee)
Dec-Jan:	home for holidays, college re-applications if need be
Jan-May:	deaf school internship in U.S. assisting with students (room & board) or, conservation or ranch/farm work in Australia or New Zealand (fee, room & board)
June-Aug:	work again to save money, or attend another program, or travel
Sept:	college
